uses and trends
Being able to watch movies or television shows as if you’re right in the middle of it has been a dream to millions of people, and now we’re on the verge of achieving just that. Already there have been many media projects that have been converted into VR-compatible films, such as roller coaster rides and actual movies. As time goes on, we’re likely to see more amazing scenes unfold all around us.

disruptive impact
It is unlikely that VR will become a substitute for the movie theater industry anytime soon, but it does present an interesting way for people to view movies individually. Unfortunately, not many production companies are focused on making their products available for VR-viewing. Virtual Reality may become an amazing way to witness spectacular battles and watch as romances develop right in front of you at some point, but as of right now the technology does not have the support it needs to disrupt the entertainment industry. With time, though, that can easily change.
ONCE UPON A time, the company with the biggest screens in the world made a big bet on virtual reality. Imax opened seven VR centers in movie theaters around the globe, each of which hosted a rotating selection of games, social experiences, and short narrative pieces. It set up a $50 million fund to develop content for those centers. It partnered with Google to build a next-generation camera that would allow filmmakers to realize their next-generation VR dreams.
Then it all disappeared.

predictions
Right now, media companies are focusing on higher resolution for shows and movies, but with Virtual Reality people can watch entire movies as if they’re standing in the middle of them. Several companies have already made an attempt, but now they’re trying again. VR movies were not popular in the past, but now as people have become more adjusted to Virtual Reality we can give it a second chance. As proof of this new attempt, I’ve included a VR video that you can watch without a headset below.
